Sakeliga hosts webinar for businesses on COVID19
“In the interest of public health, it is time for business unusual. Sakeliga encourages businesses to take reasonable measures to limit the spread of the COVID19 disease, while finding creative ways to stay open and to stay in business.”
So says Piet le Roux, CEO of business organisation Sakeliga, following Government’s declaration of a National State of Disaster in South Africa.
To assist members and the business community in general, Sakeliga will on Tuesday 17 March present a complimentary COVID19 webinar for businesses. The webinar covers the macro economy, labour management options, and operational adjustment measures. It is presented in co-operation with Dawie Roodt (Efficient Group), Christo Bester (LWO Employers’ organisation), and Fergus Ferguson (Fergusmor Action Coach). The webinar will be broadcast on Sakeliga’s Facebook page.
“Upon the advice of infectious disease experts and in step with international trends, the South African government on Sunday announced several public health restrictions. Given international alarm and a local population with relatively elevated risk levels, a conservative approach such as this is understandable. However, further measures should be approached with great caution, since they would risk amplifying a potential infectious disease calamity with an economic crisis that could jeopardise the health and safety of millions more.”
Concludes Le Roux: “We therefore urge public officials in South Africa to closely monitor the effects of emergency measures related to COVID-19; and to reverse them as soon as reasonable.”
